Angioedema Quality of Life Questionnaire (AE-QoL)

The Angioedema Quality of Life Questionnaire (AE-QoL) is the first and only angioedema-specific quality of life (QoL) questionnaire. It is a short, valid and reliable instrument to determine QoL impairment in all patients with recurrent angioedema, independent of its underlying causes.

AE-QoL was developed by a Charité team of scientists led by Dr. Karsten Weller and Dr. Marcus Maurer. Briefly, during the development phase, 29 questions (items) were generated. Subsequently, item reduction was performed by means of impact analysis and factor analysis as well as by checking for content and face validity. As a result, 17 items were selected and included in the final instrument, which was then tested for its validity, reliability, and influence factors. AE-QoL is available for the use in Germany (german), the USA (english), Spain (spanish), France (french), Poland (polish), Russia (russian) and many other countries (languages).
